There is a lot of confusion around what legal tools are needed, or helpful, when it comes to healthcare issues and end-of-life issues. In this workshop you’ll learn:
- Basics about advanced directives: POAHC, Living Will, DNR/POLST — What are they? Who needs them? When do you need them? How do they work?
- When does a healthcare power of attorney (POAHC) take effect and how does it work?
- What is a Living Will and do I need one?
- When is the right time to sign a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order?
- What happens if you don’t have one of the above, but you can’t make decisions for yourself?
- What things do you need to discuss with family members or “agents”?
This workshop will help you know how to still have control (and peace of mind) if a time comes when you are no longer in control. We will help you think through the right person to name, and what can and can’t be done with the legal tools available.
