Katie Perry

Attorney

Katie joined Edwards Group in January 2024. She has over a decade of litigation experience, previously practicing in the fields of personal injury, workers’ compensation, and medical malpractice. Katie’s practice with Edwards Group focuses on litigation of disputed probate matters, including contests, intestacy disputes, and disputed adult guardianship cases.

Katie graduated from the University of Illinois-Springfield Cum Laude in 2009, then attended DePaul University College of Law, where she excelled in coursework involving probate, estate planning, and real estate transactions, earning her Juris Doctorate in 2012. Katie has practiced before circuit courts across the State of Illinois, Illinois Appellate Courts, and the Illinois Supreme Court. She has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the Central District Bankruptcy Court.

Katie’s philosophy is simple: the client is the ultimate decision maker regarding their legal matter. She strives to provide honest opinions regarding options, risks, and likely outcomes, then trusts her clients to make reasoned decisions. Her experience growing up in a north-central Illinois farming community gives her a unique perspective when it comes to representing hard-working Midwestern families. She strives to understand her clients’ needs and relate to them on a personal level, building authentic relationships based on care and respect.

Although she spent her childhood in the northern part of the state, Katie has called Central Illinois home for the majority of her adult life. She resides in rural Sangamon County with her husband Tyler, son Theo, and their four cats. When she’s not practicing law, Katie enjoys reading, sewing, home improvement projects, and going on adventures with her family.
